Cumbria Eye and Ear: an evening with Edward Cowie
“I have millions of reasons to compose music, and they are mainly, if not totally, found within the way the natural world works.”

Composer, artist and naturalist Edward Cowie presents an evening of words, music and images reflecting on the inspiration that comes from nature and informs his work.
Renowned as the composer of pieces such as his acclaimed Lyre Bird Motet and the BBC Proms commission Great Barrier Reef from his long association with Australia, Edward will also recall the wader flocks of Morecambe Bay and the landscapes of the South Lakes that inspired earlier works during his time as Professor of Composition at Lancaster University.
Last month, NATURAL LIGHT interviewed Edward ahead of a composing visit to Botswana - read the full conversation here.
